The article is devoted to the formation and transfor-mation of trihalomethanes (THMs) in water supply system of Baghdad (Iraq). The results of research work show the dependences of THMs concentration in the tap water on the distance from water treatment plants, chlorine residual and water temperature. It is shown that the way to reduce THMs in Baghdad water supply network is to use the chlorine dioxide for chlorination as well as sorption treatment in case of preliminary chlorination
