The purpose of this article is an attempt to show the value of translated Russian novels of the XVIII c. in formation of premise to the birth of a new literary genre – “slavic” fantasy. V.A.Levshin’s, M.D. Chulkov’s and M.I. Popov's contribution to development of a domestic fantasy can't be underestimated: by copying style of the traditional chivalric novel, they decorated the text with elements of the oral national tradition
